Aristocrat Set To Enter the Australian Mobile Gambling Market
Added: September 13, 2013
Mobile gambling is the most rapidly growing segment of the online gambling market globally. Almost all large online casino site has launched a mobile gambling app in recent months. Most of these work with a full range of smartphones and tablets, running both Apple iOS and Google Android. Some only work with the iPad, iPod and iPhone, others only work with Google Android equipped devices. However, each of the mobile gambling apps has something in common; they are exploiting a massively growing online gambling market, and the online casino operators are cashing in on it while they can.
In Australia, the legality of online gambling is still something of a grey area, and many online casino operators have pulled out of Australia in recent months. Some though, are seeing this as an opportunity to grab a chunk of the Australian online gambling market, as other online casino companies pull out. Aristocrat Leisure is one such company, and it is about to start targeting Australian mobile gambling fans.
Jamie Odell, the Chief Executive Officer of Aristocrat Leisure has said that, “Consumers had a growing appetite for gambling games on mobile devices, and Aristocrat was developing new games and modifying its existing games for mobile platforms. Intuitively, that's where my heart says we should be moving to: to the future.”
We agree, the mobile gambling market is where all smart online casino operators should be heading, as technology is improving at an alarming rate.
Aristocrat Leisure has been investing heavily into mobile gambling technology in recent months. It was only a few short months ago that Aristocrat Leisure acquired US based online casino software developer Product Madness. The company has also been doing some extensive market research. Aristocrat Leisure has also recently launched its nLive online casino in North America.
It seems that Aristocrat Leisure is relying on the current loophole that allows Australian online casino fans to play at an international online gambling site, regardless of the legality of online gambling in Australia. We hope for Aristocrat Leisure sake that this loophole is not closed any time soon.
Speaking on the legality of online gambling in Australia, Mr. Odell thinks that it will eventually become legal, and said that, "It's already started, particularly in some of the states of northeast of America. It's been legal for a while in Europe."
Overall, this is good news for Australian online gamblers who like to play their favorite games on the go.
