If you want to play craps at online casinos then the Free Odds Pass Line bet should definitely be in your quiver. It is not a glamourous bet and you may have to keep pegging away at it, but it offers an average return close to 100%.
The bet consists of a Pass Line component and a Free Odds component. You have to place the pass line bet before the come out roll. The come out roll is the first roll of a new session. If the come out roll is a 7 or an 11, then the pass line bet will immediately win. If the come out roll is a 2, a 3 or a 12, then the pass line bet will immediately lose. If the come out roll shows any other number, then that number is established as a point. On the screen layout a marker will be placed on that number. The pass line bet will be carried forward and the dice will be rolled again and again. If the point is rolled again before a 7, the pass line bet will win. If a 7 is rolled first then the bet will lose. The bet pays at even money and has an average return of 98.6%.
The free odds component is optional and has to be placed immediately after the point has been established. It is an add-on to the pass line bet. The objective of this bet is to increase the average return even more. In most online casinos the amount of the free odds bet will be equal to the pass line bet. The free odds bet will win when the pass line bet wins and it will lose when the pass line bet loses. The payouts in the free odds component of the bet are without any house edge. For a point of 4 or 10 the payout is 2:1; for a point of 5 or 9 the payout is 3:2 and for a point of 6 or 8 the payout is 6:5. In this way the average of the combined free odds pass line bet wager is increased to 99.2%.
Some online casinos allow you to bet an amount in the free odds component that is two times the pass line bet. This is referred to as double free odds. The payouts are the same as mentioned earlier. But the average return on the combined bet further increases to 99.4%.
